To keep it brief I had the same problem some other reviewers mentioned. The suction blocked light started flashing after i inadvertently wound a stray piece of carpet fiber onto the roller. I cleaned the roller and tried to unblock the hose but it didnt seem to be blocked at all. So i kept vacuuming anyway since it still seemed to be picking up though not as well when suddenly the vacuum stopped working altogether. I think it overheated. Its been sitting awhile and I was able to turn it back on again just now but its clearly on its last legs--so here I am searching for another vacuum. I dont think it will be a Hoover this time. I loved my Hoover Elite Rewind it really picked up well and had good attachments for stairs but it only lasted a couple years before losing suction. This Whisper picked up well too until it didnt. The attachments were no good though and it was unwieldy to lug up and down. This type of vacuum isnt expensive exactly but all the same it seems like they should last longer. Maybe well fare better with another brand. Great vacuum that sucks up pet hair like no other vacuum Ive ever owned. Amazing. I can go over the rugs after the maids leave and this Hoover still picks up scads of dog hair and dander. I finally did run into the blocked suction light problem and after looking every other logical place on the vac (of course) found that the hose is too narrow and ridged at the inlet to the cannister (a design flaw in my humble opinion). At that end the hose is held on to the vac by one screw which takes seconds to remove and clear. Minus one star for hose design. Because of the hose ridges (which are more pronounced because of the curve) and the sharp curve of the hose at the inlet to the cannister it is going to catch obstructions far too often. At least I know where it is now. This time the vac plugged itself up with paper debris from my paper shredder. That shouldnt happen... All in still happy to have it given what it does with pet hair.. it starts out quiet then gradually builds to its loudest sound so that little ones who tend to be scared of vacuums can acclimate a bit better. even at its loudest volume its still only half as loud as my last one was. no bags to buy all the time = happy mommy. brush rolls by itself when you tip the handle back so its easier to push? gimme some of that! i will say it is quite heavy but i rarely have to lift it for any reason. its been over a year and i even recently let my meth-head neighbor use it when she was moving out (stupid me) and she abused it so horribly i thought it was broken but after i cleaned all of her mysterious crap out of it it was back to its beautiful self (: so yes im very happy with my purchase (side note it was much cheaper @ walmart. com)

#1: About every time I vacuum, the "suction blocked" light comes on, and I am searching for a non-existent blockage#2: When you press the button to empty the canister, there is a black tube that falls out unless you remember to remove it and replace it (each time as the junk is falling out because at this point it is open for dumping)#3: Belts are nowhere to be found unless special ordered, so if you do buy it, get extra before yours needs replaced#4: This is my second time writing this review because there is statement I tried to include from the "Important Safety Instructions"- Page 3- at the bottom of the pg. that every consumer should know about.#5: Cord could be longerPRO: It is quieter.

Great vacuum that sucks up pet hair like no other vacuum I've ever owned. Amazing.
